Elizabeth Fagan - Managing Director of Boots
Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science in recognition of her significant contribution to education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, equality and diversity, and civic leadership.
Elizabeth Fagan graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from Strathclyde University in 1979. She spent three years as a teacher in the region before beginning her association with Boots in 1983 as Group Buyer.
She joined SupaSnaps as Merchandise and Marketing Director in 1991. She was Managing Director a year later, and from 1993 until 2006 she occupied director-level roles at first Sketchley Retail Limited and then various DSG International companies.
Elizabeth returned to Boots in 2006, holding a series of positions before becoming Senior Vice President and then Managing Director in 2016. In September she will be made the first non-executive chairman of Boots – a role that includes enhancing the work the company does with the local community.
Her other responsibilities include being on the board of the Office for Students (OfS),
the new higher education regulator that replaces the Higher Education Funding
Council for England (HEFCE).
