Professor Siwei Cheng

Professor Cheng, former Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, is a key figure in the development of China's own economy, and in his country's international relationships.

He is an advocate for China's reform and opening-up policy in order to achieve healthy economic growth, stating that enhancing its citizens' purchasing power, improving the social security system, and encouraging constant innovations among enterprises will help China to boost its domestic consumption.

A distinguished scholar in economic, financial and managerial fields as well as in the chemical industry, Professor Cheng is the Chairman of the International Finance Forum and the President of the Research Centre on Fictitious Economy and Data Science at Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has also served as the external adviser to the World Bank Institute.

Professor Cheng is also Dean of the School of Management at the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a partner of Nottingham Business School in a joint DBA programme. He marked his honorary degree with a special lecture at Nottingham Business School on Economic Prospects of the Global Economy: China, US and EU.
