Ranjit Singh Boparan


Honorary Degree of the University in recognition of his significant contribution to the food manufacturing industry, to education and development in the workforce, and for his philanthropic interests.

From starting work, aged 16 as an assistant in a butcher’s shop, Ranjit Singh Boparan has built up a multi-billion pound operation across the food, retail and catering industries.

His 2 Sisters Food Group has become the third largest food manufacturer in the UK, with 49 factory sites in the UK, Ireland, Holland and Poland and employs around 24,000 people. The company leads initiatives in food safety.

Ranjit has set up the Boparan Charitable Trust to help children and young people who are disadvantaged either by poverty, disability or terminal illness.

He supports training and apprenticeships and his company works with NTU on studentships and developing the Multidisciplinary Masters programme.
