Ms Li Edelkoort, Founder of Studio Edelkoort and Trend Union

Honorary Degree of Doctor of Art in recognition of her pioneering trend forecasting as a profession which crosses several disciplines within design and which is recognised internationally.

Li EdelkoortFounder of Studio Edelkoort and of Trend Union, Ms Edelkoort's expertise is sought after worldwide to help predict and announce the concepts, colours and materials that will be in fashion several years ahead, in sectors ranging from fashion to automobiles, cosmetics to home furnishings. She has earned international distinction for her vision, integrity and high creative standing. Her interpretations pave the way for greater understanding of what tomorrow's consumers will want, how they will live and what will be important to them.

Born in Holland, Li Edelkoort has been creating innovative trend books and audiovisuals since the 1980s and now undertakes long-range analysis and research for leading international brands. Working in Paris she formed Trend Union, a group of interacting companies whose specialist activities include trend forecasting. She also works to foster the design talent of tomorrow through various roles including Chairwoman of the Design Academy, Eindhoven and her work provides endless inspiration for students in this University's School of Art and Design.

Ms Edelkoort continues to attract significant accolades for her work. In 2007 she was named Chevalier des Artes et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. This June she was presented with the Designers' Days Jury Prize for excellence in the promotion of design.
