Dr Bryan Jackson OBE
Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in recognition of his outstanding contribution as an industrialist and champion of economic growth.
Since 2004 Bryan Jackson has chaired emda – the East Midlands Development Agency. He steers the team that promotes economic growth, jobs and better community conditions in the region.
With a passion for boosting business efficiency and productivity, Bryan has made a significant contribution to the automotive industry in the UK and Europe and to broader economic development in the East Midlands.
Born in Swansea, he began his career in human resources with the Ford Motor Company, who also sponsored his university studies, before moving into general management. He spent 23 years with Ford, at several UK plants and in Germany. He moved to Toyota in 1990 to help establish production at Burnaston, and retired as managing director before joining emda.
He was awarded the OBE in 2000.
