Nottingham Trent University Alumni Association Mission Statement
To foster lasting relationships with, and between, former students which encourage pride and involvement in our University.
What does alumni mean?
Pronounced al-um-nye, the word is derived from a 17th Century Latin term for 'fosterchild'. That term itself came from the word 'alere', which meant 'nourishment'. The term alumni is inclusive to all former students - whether they be graduates, diplomats, hold certificates or have studied for other qualifications at Nottingham Trent University.
Who is eligible for NTU Alumni Association Membership?
Membership of the Alumni Association is free and automatic for graduates who were fully enrolled on NTU undergraduate and postgraduate courses and studied in the UK. Membership is available on request for some other groups. We are currently unable to offer membership to former students whose courses were validated by NTU, but who did not study at Nottingham Trent University or one of its franchise institutions. Please see our full page answer to check current eligibility.
How do I join the Alumni Association?
The majority of our former students are automatically made members of the Alumni Association (however, see eligibility above). Please ensure that we have your up to date contact details and the Alumni Relations team will keep you:
- informed of the latest news and developments
- up-to-date with job and other opportunities
- in touch with your friends and contemporaries
All of this will be communicated via email, through the website and our annual publication Network.
We are aware that we have lost contact with some alumni and that others are occasionally missing from our records due to data gaps. If you are not receiving our communications, please register with this website or email us. We will check your eligibility and be happy to welcome you back.

Can you put me in touch with another NTU graduate?
Yes, all you need to do is register as a full member with this site to access the Venture Online alumni community area, where you can use the 'Find a Friend' facility to look through class lists of graduates who are in contact with the Alumni Association. If the person you are trying to trace has chosen to make their details visible to other alumni, you can contact that person directly. If the details are not available, the Alumni Association offers an email/letter forwarding service.
