NBS students visit Panasonic

14 March 2016

NBS students at PanasonicAlumni Fellow Tony O’Brien (MBA 2009) flew in from Germany recently to meet NBS students at Panasonic, where he works.

Since the launch of the NBS Alumni Fellowship Programme our alumni have been involved in a range of activities, and Tony O'Brien, Managing Director of Panasonic Solutions Centre Europe, was kind enough to arrange a company visit for a group students.

The Head of Sales at Panasonic Systems & Solutions gave an overview of the history of Panasonic and then the group had a tour of the premises including a kitchen lab where Panasonic equipment is put through its paces, a small museum of some nostalgic original Panasonic equipment and glimpse of some of the impressive meeting areas used with key clients.

After lunch Tony told the group how studying at NBS had developed his analytical ability - a skill that he has taken with him into each subsequent role. The Sales Director then gave an inspirational overview of his interesting career journey at Panasonic and highlighted some of the cultural differences of working for a Japanese organisation. The HR Director also joined the discussion giving an overview of the recruitment and personal development opportunities at Panasonic.

The visit ended with a demonstration of some of the exciting business technological solutions that Panasonic is currently developing.

One student commented: “The visit was really good and was a chance to experience life in a big organisation like Panasonic. We met some brilliant people. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.”

Special thanks to Tony O’Brien for arranging this visit. This type of initiative demonstrates the ability of our Alumni Fellows to bring global business awareness into the educational experience of our students and we hope that more opportunities like these will follow.
