Mayur has a lot on his plate

Alumnus Mayur Sharma (BA Clothing Studies with Textiles 1996, MA Fashion and Textiles 1997) combines his love of food with his passion for travel as the presenter of the award winning Indian TV show Highway On My Plate.
With his best friend, Rocky, he has spent the past four years travelling across India creating 180 episodes which explore regional cuisines, exotic foods, legendary eating places, ancient recipes and riveting stories. They have recently published the book Highway On My Plate - The Indian guide to Roadside Eatingbased on the show and are now anchoring an additional show on food and travel.
Though not a trained chef, Mayur is mad about 'all things food'. He learned how to cook as a student whilst far away from home and the fabulous cooking of his grandmother, aunt and mother.
Having eaten and worked his way around the world, Mayur is always on the look out for a new adventure. He is passionate about 'giving back' and has used his skills and experience in Africa and in post-Tsunami relief efforts in Sri Lanka.
Mayur thanks NTU for his 'life less ordinary'. He said: "University gave me the confidence to succeed at any task no matter how hard the challenge. Working with the International Students' Society developed my curiosity to explore other nations and cultures and the capacity to revel in diversity. I also learned that many a problem can be solved over a pint!"
