About Kevin

Position: Lecturer, Director National Print Museum, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT)

Field of work: Lecturing, Research, Director at Museum, Chair of the Museums Management Committee

What does your current role involve? Lecturing, research and postgraduate supervision. Management oversight of the museum’s day-to-day operations Financial planning.

How has your career developed since leaving NTU? Prior to graduation, I was appointed as Senior Lecturer at DIT, Head of Department of Print and Digital Media. I had been a member of the Print and Packaging Industry Forum and was appointed interim director for a period of two years. Since 2013 I have focused on industry based research.

How has your experience at Nottingham Trent shaped or helped you in your career? My time at Nottingham Business School broadened my personal skill set. I have honed my research skills and developed my management capability. It has given me a significant confidence and understanding of research, and I have followed this with particular interest in the area of applied research and research philosophy. On a personal front, I have many friends from my time at NTU, both classmates and lecturers. We are spread across the world but still have the opportunity to meet up from time to time.

How friendly and supportive an environment did you find Nottingham Trent? NTU is incredibly welcoming and friendly. The city does not feel like a city. It is a home from home. Staff are supportive beyond the norms and are always there to assist if needed.

What has been the highlight of your career or personal achievements to date? Achieving a Doctorate at Nottingham Trent University.

What are your plans for the future?  My plans are to seek a professorship, and to maintain my strong industry connections.
