Recapture your youth

7 March 2014

Stephen Dixon in his NTU hoodyStephen DixonI couldn't resist looking back at our youth in this blog, because I've just turned 40. I thought I would escape work on the big day, only to have my face appear in the 120 inch plasma at work and my colleagues telling the world how old I was... so much for keeping it quiet!

It's actually been a really nice milestone to mark - although a little scary to think it was SO long ago since i started life at NTU - and yet it still is one of the most significant periods of my life, when I discovered who I was and what I wanted out of life.

That's why it's so nice to be able to reconnect with NTU and fellow alumni at our networking events. We've held many in London but this time round we're back at home! It's the perfect excuse to pack an overnight bag and head up to meet staff, the NTU Alumni Team and fellow alumni. We even throw in a free drink. This event is on Thursday 3 April at Spanky Van Dykes, right next to the city campus. You'll need to register online in advance - but don't worry, it's free to attend.

In terms of keeping in touch, Network magazine will be heading your way shortly, packed full of news about alumni and NTU. Please update us online to make sure we have the correct postal address for you and while you're at it, why not add your graduate profile to our ever growing list? It's a great way of people being able to look you up - though we never give out your contact details - and it can also help inspire others who are looking to start university or have just graduated and want to see what other people have achieved over the years.

As it's a Friday I must now go and prepare for bed at 1900 - but that's not because I'm 40, but I've been up for work since 0300 and doing the same tomorrow!

Oh - by the way - the NTU Alumni Team thought my memory might start to go so they very kindly arranged an outfit for me in case I forgot who I was.... but I love it all the same!
