Giving Tuesday

27 November 2014

Stephen DixonNBS Alumni Fellows Hello everyone,

Are you aware of the “Giving Tuesday” phenomenon? I have to be honest and say I wasn't, but it's a great idea. After the big sales of "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday", it's a chance to restore some of the balance and give a little back in the spirit of the festive season.

So why not help out your university this Giving Tuesday? We're focusing on two areas which need help - the incredible work done in giving and volunteering for the alumni relations programme, and the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre. It's not all about handing over money, though of course that helps a great deal, but about giving time and expertise.

Over the years so many alumni have given up their time to mentor students, act as graduate recruiters, help out at open days, or offer placement opportunities. It's been amazing work for which we owe a huge debt of thanks, but why don't YOU join the ranks of this army of helpers?

It doesn't take up masses of your time, but the impact on students is profound and it can shape a career and a life. Get in touch with us and we can talk through all the possibilities, without obligation.

As for the amazing John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, you can donate money directly or organise events to raise money with the confidence of knowing the every single penny is used on research and nothing else. That's a promise!

Please do help in some way this Giving Tuesday, in 2015 and beyond. It will make such a difference.

Thank you.

Stephen
