President's blog

Thank you, and goodbye

29 January 2015

Stephen DixonStephen DixonHello everyone,

This is my last blog as President of the Alumni Association. After nearly four years, it's time to say goodbye.

It's actually really hard to let go. I've worked hard to try to make us a family, to make us all feel included in NTU, however long ago we graduated.

I still feel passionately about the importance of staying in touch, in keeping abreast of what the university is doing and supporting current undergraduates as they prepare for the careers ahead of them.

For me, the most important thing from the past few years has been the contact from alumni, often newly graduated, and I've always done my utmost to help them, whether offering advice or setting up meetings. I firmly believe that helping others in this way is, well almost a duty, and I take great pride in that.

I shall miss my direct involvement with NTU a great deal, but sometimes it is just the right time to move on. With a new Vice Chancellor at the helm, it seems to be appropriate to let someone else bring their enthusiasm and new ideas to the table.

I leave with a heavy heart, but a proud one, and will watch the university grow with interest. I will also be heading up when I can to attend Distinguished Lectures and any other events I can wangle an invitation to.

As a proud NTU alumnus I will still be on hand to offer any help or support I can, but you'll have to track me down on Twitter - @stephendixonTV or @skystephen

Stay proud of your NTU history and your NTU family. Through our education we have not only a great heritage but a link to an even greater future.

Yours,
Stephen
